State of emergency, pandemic and diffuse continuity of social protest (March 2020 - March 2021)
Keywords:
State of exception, Pandemic, Repression, Capitalism, Social ProtestAbstract
This article deals with the constitutional state of emergency -activated from the sanitary crisis created by the irruption of covid-19- that began in March 2020 and that immediately follows the social revolt in the Chilean region. From the study of primary and secondary sources obtained in digital media, the development of the state of exception in Chile and the capitalist administration of the pandemic, characterized by the militarization of society, the hardening of repression and police persecution of social movements, the aggravated precariousness of the population and the diffuse continuity of social protest will be exposed. All this in a national historical scenario in which converges a crisis of valorization of world capitalism, with a political, economic and social theater marked by the specter of social revolt.
